Your local Conservative team are campaigning to get Trafford Council to make parking free after 3pm on council-owned carparks. The last 18 months have been dreadful for local businesses and residents alike as a result of lockdown restrictions and the Labour-run council increasing parking charges. Lets bring more people together, back on our high streets to get more people shopping locally.
Recently, the Labour-run council increased parking charges, propped up by the Liberal Democrats and Green Party as they called it a "motorist subsidy". Cllr. Nathan Evans, the leader of Trafford Conservatives led the vote against the parking charges hike, but was ultimately defeated.
"Our high streets are the life blood of our economy. Not only do they support jobs, they provide vital funding to our council to pay for public services. We want to help our high streets and spread a bit of Christmas cheer to people supporting our local businesses."
