Trafford's Conservative councillors will be demanding the Labour-run council withdraw from the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework renamed - Places For Everyone, at the next full council meeting in March.

Trafford Conservatives believe that if the council had a local plan and worked with the community they could set their own housing targets in the right places and precious green belt land would be "saved" - It is Labour's plan for Trafford, Stockport have pulled out and so should we.

The long term development plan now involves nine of the 10 boroughs in Greater Manchester. Former group leader and candidate for Hale Barns and Timperley South -  Nathan Evans said, "This plan is being imposed top down and not taking into consideration the lack of school places we already see under the Labour- run councils hapless adimistration. These developments will only add more congestion and place local services under even more pressure. Labour need to STOP this madness, pull out of the overarching Greater Manchester plan and focus on what's best for our area."

Rob Duncan Councillor Manor ward, whose ward will be severley impacted by the development says, "many community groups and residents have done a lot of work to try to stop these plans going ahead but Labour's not listening".

Quoting Mr Gove, Rob said, "We're told the plan-making process for housing has to start with a number. This number the Secretary of State said, should be an advisory starting point a guide that is not mandatory and our precious green belt should be protected.”
