Thanks to the generosity of local residents, the support of Timperley businesses and community groups and the endeavour of local campaigner Stuart Donnelly, Christmas lights will soon be shining in Timperley Village.
Following the award of an Inclusive Neighbourhood Grant from the Council in August, Stuart was able to set up a project to raise funds for the lights. Through social media campaigning and business sponsorship of a Timperley Christmas Tree decorating competition for local children, Stuart has now raised enough money to pay for the cost of installing and running this year’s lights.
Stuart planned the initiative as a way to bring festive fun and light after such a dark year. Stuart explained that “As the Council is no longer able to pay for the borough’s Christmas lights, I wanted to make sure local residents and visitors to the Village can still enjoy a festive feel. It is an uplifting way to end a very difficult year”.
