Councillor Rob Duncan, Councillor John Holden and local Manor Ward campaigner Rupali Paul have been successful in getting the illegal encampments around Selsey Fields and Weathercock Farm evicted.

Manor Ward's Conservative Councillors, and team, demanded that Trafford Council apply for an eviction notice through the courts to have the illegal campers moved on from Selsey Fields, and on 9th June were successful in their application.

The travellers were then evicted from Selsey Fields, however, and within hours of being moved, the illegal encampment moved to Weathercock Farm on Harboro Road.

Rupali Paul, who has previously been elected as a Councillor for Manor Ward, stated that "It is disgraceful that this relocation was entirely foreseeable and yet no preventative action was taken by Trafford Council to stop it from happening. Why did they not put measures in place to stop them parking on Weathercock Farm. It just shows how incompetent Trafford Labour are!"

The Manor Ward Conservative Councillors then made a formal complaint and on the 10th June, Greater Manchester Police officers intervened on Weathercock Farm and the travellers were once again evicted from Sale.

Cllr Rob Duncan stated:

"The situation at Selsey Fields caused immense strain and stress for local residents. We needed to act fast and without hesitation. Working alongside residents and officers from One Trafford Amey, we got the issue under control - but this should never have been allowed to escalate."

He continued:

"I invited the Labour council to attend a public meeting to hear directly from residents. Their response? That it wouldn't be 'appropriate'. I don't need to say more - other than how disappointed I was."

To prevent further instances like these happening again, Trafford Conservatives believe preventative actions are needed.

This is why two GoFundMe campaigns have been set up to help fund preventative security measures for both sites.

Fundraiser by Alex Warden : Selsey Avenue Playing Fields community appeal

Fundraiser by Ray Mould : Weathercock Farm Park - Community Appeal

Trafford Conservatives would encourage all residents who have been concerned about illegal encampments to go and support these crowd-funding and together we can end illegal camps being set up on our fields.
