Trafford Conservatives: Standing Up for Local School Places
The Trafford Conservative team is continuing to highlight the secondary school places crisis affecting families across Altrincham, Ashton, Broadheath, Hale, Hale Barns, Bowdon, Sale and Timperley . Many parents are now facing stress, uncertainty, and disruption due to a shortage of local school places, with some children being sent up to six miles away to schools in Stretford or Partington.
For over five years, Conservative councillors have warned of the growing need for a new secondary school in the area and consistently challenged Labour’s failure. Even last week we saw again Labour fail to deliver the promised 300 extra places at Altrincham College, a missed opportunity that also wasted £2 million in public money.
We are not alone in believing that Trafford Labour are either living in denial or intentionally trying to break the system rather then fix the problem.
Cllr Nathan Evans said:
"We have a fantastic choice of schools in Trafford that offer real opportunity to our residents children. What we’re seeing now is Labour and the Green Party denying there’s a problem and suggesting it’s acceptable for children to travel six miles or more to school in Partington or Stretford. Even if Loreto Prep eventually offers some additional places, it won’t come close to meeting the demand from all the new developments."
