For nearly 50 years, the Jubilee Community Centre has served our community. Opened in 1977 to mark our late Queen’s Silver Jubilee, it has been a vital local space for residents of all ages ever since.
That future is now under threat.
The Centre has been put up for sale and could be lost to the community permanently.
Trafford Council has identified a preferred bidder, but this proposal would place an unacceptable financial burden on the Bowdon Community Association, requiring it to fund the majority of the construction of a new community centre at substantial cost.
There are also serious concerns about accessibility. The proposed replacement facility would include only two parking spaces, making it impractical for many residents to use.
Bowdon Community Association is urgently preparing an alternative bid. This proposal would:
- Keep the Jubilee Community Centre in community use; and
- Provide a better parking offer, ensuring the facility remains accessible and viable.
This is a critical moment.
Without strong local support, we risk losing this community asset forever.
