Education

Despite the continuing under funding of educational services in Trafford by the Labour Government, we will continue to focus available financial and human resources to the support of our pupils and school staff.

KEY COMMITMENT - We will continue to support our Primary School pupils as they consistently achieve excellent results at the top of the national performance tables. We will provide a high standard of education that prepares them for continuing success at the secondary level. We will continue to support and promote our selective education system providing a wide range of opportunities for all children in the borough.

The development of new Children's Centreswill continue as we build on the successesof earlier projects located in some of the most disadvantaged part of the borough.

New building projects will begin this year that will enhance the education facilities in the borough and allow for the adjustments in provision necessitated by changing populations across Trafford.

Whilst academic achievement remains of paramount importance for the children of Trafford, we will continue to support activities which expand horizons and life quality. In 2007 more than 300 young people gained nationally recognised awards for art, music and dancing. At the same time many of our young people worked towards Duke of EdinburghAwards at all levels.
