Conservatives Reject Incinerator Plans.
Thursday, 10 November 2011 12:13

Local Conservative Councillors from Davyhulme East, Davyhulme West, Flixton and Umrston Wards all spoke out against proposals for a Biomass plant being heard by Trafford Councils Planning Committee tonight.  Over many months local Conservatives have expressed their concerns over health fears associated with the plans and tonight they took the opportunity to represent the views of their residents to the committee.

Cllr Christine Turner (Urmston Ward ) said ‘ Local residents are up in arms about this plan and I can understand why. It’s plainly wrong for this area. Hundreds of residents have contacted me expressing great fears about this plan and I just had to speak up for people. I am pleased and more than a little relieved that the planning committee rejected the application’ .

Cllr Keith Summerfield (Flixton Ward ) said ‘ I have been a Trafford councillor for over 30 years and this application has been one of the most contentious I have ever known. I am firmly of the view that the planning committee took the right decision and I hope that this will be the last we hear of it’.

Cllr Linda Blackburn (Davhulme East ) said ‘ As far as the plans for the incinerator are concerned I have one firm view – not here and not now. The safety and protection of our children is of paramount importance.  I am pleased that as a local councillor I was able to play my part in getting this incinerator stopped’.
