Local Councillors have taken action following a number of complaints from local residents who are unable to legitimately park as a result of vehicles being advertised for sale and left for long periods in the lay-by adjacent to the Garden of Remembrance on Devisdale Road close to its junction with St. Margaret’s Road. These vehicles are often left for several days, are regularly offered for sale, while others carry commercial advertising.
As a result of the actions of local Councillors, parking bays will be introduced that have a limited waiting time of 3 hours to allow maximum use by visitors while removing the vehicles being parked for prolonged periods The new restrictions should be introduced in the next few months.
Altrincham ward Councillor, Alex Williams, said: "I have received a number of complaints about vehicles left for days on end, advertised for sale. As well as being unsightly, they take up parking spaces that should be available for use by local residents. By introducing 3 hour limited waiting, we will stamp out this practice."
Bowdon ward Councillor, Sean Anstee, said: "'I am delighted a logical solution has been found to address this long standing problem. The change will continue allow a 3 hour period of parking for local residents whilst preventing the unsightly situation seen today of parked cars for sale."
